QESTLab™ Hosted Announced
(1 December 2006) Spectra QEST announces that the QESTLab™ system is now available over a hosted environment, significantly simplifying the rollout process for its customers.
In centralised, multi-laboratory implementations, QESTLab™ relies on distributed technologies (such as Windows Terminal Services and –optionally– Citrix) to allow the system to operate over the Internet. The use of these technologies, and the accompanying hardware, require a certain level of IT expertise within the customer’s organisation. This may not always be available in small and medium sized operations.
QESTLab™ Hosted solves this problem by making the system available on infrastructure managed by Spectra QEST (located at a tier 1 data centre). The customer does not need any additional hardware and accesses the system over any web-enabled PC. A broadband internet connection is sufficient, and any computer able to run Internet Explorer satisfactorily is adequate to use QESTLab™.
The solution also has the advantage that the operation of both the hardware that runs QESTLab™, as well as the QESTLab™ software itself, is managed through Spectra QEST, making it a ‘one stop shop’ for any hardware or software support.
The hosted service attracts a per user fee, which reflects the number of concurrent users the client expects to have on the system at any one time.
The first customers will commence using the QESTLab™ Hosted system in early 2007.
