QESTLab™ v3.2 released

(17 July 2009) Spectra QEST announced that QESTLab™ v3.2 was released to selected customers today. The new release contains dozens of new features and enhancements designed to allow organisations to further improve the management of their laboratories.

QESTLab™, the world’s leading Laboratory Information Management System for Construction Materials Testing, has taken another step forward today, with the release of QESTLab™ v3.2. This release is currently only available to selected customers, but will be made available to all QESTLab™ customers in the coming months.

Features added in this latest version include:

Regions
QESTLab™ v3.2 introduces a new feature, Regions, which allows businesses to improve the organization of their laboratories by grouping them into conceptual or geographical collections.

People and Roles
The introduction of People as an entity in QESTLab™ provides a more powerful user management system and gives system administrators the ability to let laboratory supervisors manage their own staff directly, including their permission roles.

Urgent Tests
Users can now create high priority tests in QESTLab™, and it’s as easy as ticking a checkbox. Should a laboratory require a particular test to be completed urgently, then all that needs to be done is to mark that test with an urgent status. If an entire sample needs to be marked as urgent then that can be done as well.

External Tests
If a particular test is outsourced to another laboratory (either to one run by the business or to one run by a different organization) then those tests can also be easily recorded and reported in QESTLab™.

Currencies
QESTLab™ now also comes with support for multiple currencies. With the introduction of Regions, QESTLab™ allows businesses that operate in different countries to manage those laboratories and, more importantly, bill and invoice their clients in the appropriate local currency.

Multiple Accreditations
Should a laboratory operate in locations where more than one accreditation body exists, then QESTLab™ v3.2 allows the setup and use of multiple accreditations.

QESTLab™ Plug-in for Word and Excel
QESTLab™ v3.2 allows administrators to save time and improve productivity when using QESTLab’s External Document functionality by using the QESTLab™ plug-in for MS Word and Excel 2007. The plug-in adds a QESTLab™ toolbar to the MS Word and Excel ribbon.

Business Divisions
QESTLab™ now allows the consolidation of revenue information via the use of Business Divisions. Each billable item can be associated with a business division thus marking any associated fee schedules as well.

In addition, there are many other new features and core improvements, as well as new screens for over 30 additional test methods, including ASTM, AASHTO and British Standards.

Clients are encouraged to refer to the release notes for QESTLab™ v3.2, available on QESTonline™, or to contact Spectra QEST for more information.
